Default Hello! First honda here :)

Hello everyone, picked up a 1997 honda accord today for cheap. Has a transmission problem that needs addressed. Its got 107k miles, and the tranny is slipping between gears, and sometimes gets kicked into neutral almost. Has a check engine light but I cant drive it to go get the codes taken. Any suggestions? Its an automatic by the way

Thankyou! Glad to be a part of the community. Im coming from jeeps so this is all new to me. Needed a good car for getting me to work and keep the miles off the jeep.

It should come with a list of codes to let you know what the problem is.

I was able to rent a scanner, code shown was p0175 turbine/input shaft speed sensor.

Nothing about a sensor on the transmission. Am I just out of luck and need a new tranny? No codes for solenoids or anything

Well, determined that the tranny should just be replaced. Found a good tranny at 83k miles for 650 bucks, thats more than double what I paid for the car!

Any tips on taking the old one out?

In that year the tranny is very poblimatic. Best way to repair it is to get a new or used but in good condition.

Hmm ok, any leads to what that may be? Im new to the honda world haha

The new tranny was 675 with the core, so im happy with that. So far the old one has been taken out and the new one will be going in today, and I would be very happy to have her running by the end of the day. Definitely will be ready by sunday
