Hello from South Africa
Hi Everyone
I trust everyone is well and keeping safe.
I am a car enthusiast of most brands however I do favour some brands more than others.
My parents bought a 1986 ballade 150i (flip up lights) brand new. I grew up with that car. Learnt how to drive on it and spent my younger days with it. What a car it was. As strong as Hondas are there is always someone who can break them. My younger brother killed our one then we sadly got rid of it. On my personal side I ended up in the BMW stable. I have a classic E30 and a daily E46. I love these cars. A few weeks ago we bought a 2012 1.8 civic with auto trans for the wife. It's a nice car with plenty creature comforts. After a few days of ownership I picked up a vibration in second gear at low speeds on gentle acceleration. I replaced the gearbox oil which sorted that issue out. Oddly the dealer says there is no gearbox filter listed. I have seen other posts where the guys have replaced it. I will try to source a filter and do another gearbox service. I have also replaced the front brake pads. The set up is very similar to my e46 on the front brakes. The other issue I am picking up is the fuel consumption. The obc is indicating 10.2L/100km on average. The wife is still learning to drive so she drives slow. I feel the consumption is too high. Judging by the condition of the front end which is near mint, this car was not driven fast by the previous owner. There may be a chance it will need an Italian tune up. With covid being rife in this country we don't drive about much and still have not taken it out on a long highway burn. I am wondering if there is perhaps a tuner who could load a map to achieve better fuel consumption.
I hope to build some fruitful friendships with fellow enthusiasts on this forum as I have built with the BMW scene
Kindest Regards
