Help with CBF 500 for a new member
Hi All,
I should have joined this forum about 6 months ago, but here I am at last, better late than never
I bought a new CBF 500 in September 06, and have had the most amazing time running it in and commuting to and from work in London.
I ran it in very carefully, going to only 4000 rpm for the 500 miles, and then increasing it by 100 rpm for each subsequent 100 mile up to 1000 miles, so up to 5000 rpm until I hit 600 miles, 6000 rpm until 700 miles etc.
Now having completed 2000 miles, I decided to put a Scorpion exhaust onto it, which I fitted about 10 days ago. I removed the baffle to appreciate the full sound of it, which is quite awesome really. Really puts a sting in the tail
Anyway, I've been driving for about 10 days and I've noticed that quite often, when I'm slowing down from about 50 mph, I get this gurgling and a few loud bangs during deceleration as though theengine is back-firing. I'm quite good at letting the bike run for 5 mins or so before I set off, so the engine has time to warm up, but I am very worried by these noises...
Can anybody please explain why this is happening, whether it is a problem, and what I should do about it if it is?
Thank you very much in advance for your help and advice.
Will
