Go Honda. I have an 02 Civic LX and just installed a Jspec 1.7 Vtec motor. My next hurdle is to get the VTEC working, shes a turd top end, so I'm going back and forth from installing an EX ECU and harness or just buying a VTEC controller and wiring it up. I was curious of the pro's opinion before I go too much further. Back in my younger years I had an Integra GSR with the Field controller and it worked great, but now I cant really find any for sale. Any suggestions or help would be great, I really appreciate it. This is my first post so here goes....

 

honda tech advised me when changing from non-vtec to vtec, to get the engine, its harness, and the ecu all together.

 

Thank you, I didn’t get the harness or the ECU when I got the motor delivered, so looks like I’ll be on the hunt. It’s already running in the car, minus the VTEC of course

 

a long while back, i was viewing many honda engine swap sights due to i wanted to mod my 07 fit with 1.5l to a 2.0 supercharged eng, and found out the whole front end is replace, with a piggy back ecu and lots of wire mods. these where also found in magazines written articles of up grading non-vtec to vtec engines by adding wires to get the vtec to work using the old harness. a japan mechanic wrote most of the mod articles.

 

Might i ask how the swap process went? Custom motor mounts ? or does it fit right in?
