Trouble waiting to happen
2022 CRV EX AWD
Hi, am new here no familiar with anything here yet but I am really worried about a brand new vehicle been manufactured leaving exposed wiring in the engine compartment, so my question is besides I can surety remedy the issue my self is this something happening to all new CRV or I just happen to have a defective manufactured one?
Please look at the pictures and share what will be the best solution.
welcome to the forum. just for your info, you have a warranty on your vehicle, there for you do not add or touch the vehicle without the ok from the dealer service manager in writing or recorded. take it to the dealer service dept and ask them if this is ok to be left open, also ask them if you may have the ok to cover the bare wires with an approved heat resistance covering or electrical tape or what Honda would recommend to use.
Thank you for the welcome I just looked deeper and my fear was confirmed all wiring in the engine compartment are exposed in the same manner all around I can’t believe they manufactured the car like that, they may be trying to make money in the future when rodents get in there are do their destruction, I don’t see how those cables can survive over 15 years like that even if rodents don’t eat them they will dry and crack that’s not right, I don’t know how long I will keep the CRV but my other 2 vehicle are 15 and 17 years old so definitely I need to address this because I don’t think warranty will cover it if rodents eat those cables anyway.
yes you are correct in that the rodent eating cables will not be warranted, but still ask/tell the dealer service manager if they will do anything first then ask if its ok for you to put on a covering they recommend. I would put on the plastic conduit used in most vehicles, black with a slit to push over the cables and ty-rap to secure in place. or tape over first.
