My wife’s 13 Odyssey seems to idling higher and sound like it needs to switch gears but the RPMs are within normal range. Our local mechanic (who we trust) looked at, drove it and couldn’t find anything wrong with it but my wife is convinced that it’s not normal. We are about to head on a long vacation and I just want to be safe. Thoughts?

 

welcome to the forum. ask your mech if he can check to see the condition of your egr valve. also some times the valve adjustment may be off if never adjusted.

 

Thanks is this a minor or major issue in repair and cost?

 

check the idle control valve for condition, clean the mass sensor, then check the egr. i do not know costs on an Ody. do not own one. sorry.

 

Just wild guessing, ...
It could be possible that you are hearing the engine more...due to an exhaust leak??
Or just natural wear and tear of the exhaust system??
