Default 2003 head gasket

Can anyone advise if the head bolts on 2003 odyssey need to be changed when you replace a head gasket, I recently removed the rear head to repair a cracked valve, the second cylinder had no compression and i had a bad miss, after i changed the valve i put a new head gasket on and torqued it down in sequence to specfied torque. when i started it up started blowing white smoke i tried tighening the bolts more, with negative results. can anyone advise? Also i was careful not to nick the gasket when i put the head back on

welcome to the forum. when you change the head gasket, you should have had the head shaved to make sure it was perfectly flat. Did you check to see if there was any scoring on the cylinder walls. also do you have compression in that cylinder that had the damaged valve. also has the smoking slowed down after running the engine to burn out all the oil in the exhaust manifold.
