Looking to replace the alternator on my 2000 Odyssey, what tools will be required and being I'm no expert will this be a difficult job?

This came about as all the instruments suddenly quit the other day as I was driving, well some not all, my wipers still worked but very sluggish, I have no gas gauge, no MPH or RPM gauge and no radio, I made it home and tried to turn over the vehicle as soon as I turned it off but it would not start, after about 25 min it started again and all instruments worked but only for a few minutes.

The battery tested fine.
