My engine has a soft but higher than normal whine while at idle.

Its not charging while in operation! My dash lights flicker on and off!

Lastly transmission shifts sporadically lacking power, then slaming into gear, then back to lacking power...it does this violently.

Is this all related to a bad alternator, a burnt computer?

All this happened all at once with out warning!

 

Don't know but the first thing to do is to fix the power supply (alternator).

 

welcome to the forum. if your battery is good under a load test, and the alternator tests good, it could be your ELD electronic load detector. my 07 Honda Fit still does this after a new battery, alternator, eld. still flickers after the battery is recharged while running. i just drive the car now with the flickering lights. very annoying
