2016 Pilot AWD Front Differential??
This may be a stupid question, but here it is. Does the AWD drive version have a front differential that is separate from the transmission that needs service? There is no mention of it in the maintenance section of the manual, except the #3 maintenance sub-code that references the transmission & transfer case service. My dealer keeps telling me the front diff needs a fluid exchange either every 20 or 30,000 miles, depending on you speak with. They charge $98 for this service.
Thanks,
TG

welcome to the forum. my version of a stupid question is the one you did not ask. so the AWD pilot has a transmission, fluid change at each 60k miles, a transfer case fluid change at each 60k miles, the rear differential each 30k miles. www.openbay.com Yes the transmission drives the transfer case, which drives the front wheels during a 4 wheel drive session. under 2 wheel drive, the transmission drives the transfer case to drive the rear wheels only. if you do not do any type of auto maintenance, you can take your car to a reputable transmission shop to have the 3 parts of your drive line serviced, may cost a lot less than the dealership. (check yelp for reviews)
