Default When it rains...

Carfax sent me an e-mail this morning that there is a new recall on my 2021 Pilot SE. Says Multimodal door mirror safety issue. Do not drive or sell. No fix available? Anyone?

I'd like to see that email. A problem that renders the vehicle useless and no fix. That is strange. Why did the notice come through Carfax? That is also strange.

Andy1 call the dealership and ask them about the recall. Should be covered under warranty. make sure you have your vin nbr available due to only affecting certain serial numbers.

I give 10 to 1 odds it's a scam.

So far I cannot find any official recall. However, on another Honda related site named Piloteers, there are many comments regarding the passenger side mirrors, many are quivering and then the glass just falls out. My guess is this may be it.

Default Mirror recall

Spoke to a service manager at Honda. Says to expect a recall letter involving the outside mirrors. Seems that when you use the rear defrost feature, the heat generated in the mirror assembly is melting the glue holding the glass mirror in. Says Honda does not have a fix yet, but is guessing they will replace the heat elements at some point. Also had the software fix recall done. (start stop issue) Did not seem too confident it would solve the problem but has not seen too many Pilots needing starter replacement.

So they didn't tell you to park it. Not a death trap anymore.
