Prelude not sparking

Prelude not sparking
Hi everyone,
I've got a '93 Prelude 2.2VTEC.
Had it since July '99, and love it to bits.
Never thought I would say that after riding motorbikes for years.
Had a few things go over the years, but nothing too serious (exhaust, radiator, battery), but last Friday morning it just refused to start.
The engine was spinning over so it isn't the battery.
I have earthed a plug to the engine casing, and no spark is there at all.
Can anybody out there please help me.
What things can I check before I go to a garage /dealers / auto electrician?
How do I go about it, as I am not a mechanic and as you are probably aware, it is packed under the bonnet.
Yours hopefully,
Grant
PS posted this in newbie section too, to cover my bases.

RE: Prelude not sparking
Well, I joined the RAC, and got their opinion. £64 but it would cost me that much to get towed anyway.
The prognosis was a knackered ignitor in the distributor, or so they thought.
They towed me to the nearest Honda dealers, and I got them to run diagnostics on it.
As expected, the ignitor was gone.
So, I am back on the road, £201 lighter in the back pocket, but loving life again.
Cheers
