Default 02 crv hard start

02 crv seems like it is starving for fuel on cold start only. Cranks but it won’t start sometimes. When I do finally get it started it surges from 1000 to 1500 for a couple minutes.

it has spark on all 4 cylinders
it has fuel at all 4 injectors
starting fluid doesn’t help
no cel light or codes

any ideas or help would be appreciated!!

Your testi9ng is what?
If you have both spark and fuel it would run. I think your spark may be a problem.

Default Combustible

Just a thought:
Have you tried something like Kolor Kut or Gasoila paste in your fuel tank? Both of these products will detect water in your fuel.

Another way you may eliminate a possibility is to change your fuel source but if you have settled water in your tank that may not work effectively for quite some time.

I mention this because you state that you have fuel and spark and it runs normally shortly after starting.

Got car running yesterday!! Let it sit for an hour and tried again. It started but took a couple extra cranks! Let it sit overnight and it just cranks again no start. Started over checking everything:
Has spark
noticed fuel wasn’t at fuel rail at 1st. Cranked it a few minutes then got fuel and could start car.

i think fuel pump is getting ready to go out and is to weak to prime system. Does this sound right to anybody else or do I have a separate problem?

I had a 2021 car do that and it was the fuel pump in my case.

Sounds like it's losing the prime.

That is what I think but what could cause that and why doesn’t the fuel pump compensate?

The check valve in the pump is bad. You need a new pump.

Fuel pump didn’t fix could it have slipped a tooth on timing? Would that keep it from starting or just make it run bad?
