Default 2005 CRV randomly not starting

I recently bought a 2005 CRV with 47000 miles.

Sometimes when I get in the car and turn the key, it won't start. After I get out of the car and get back in, it starts right up, but I have to enter the code into the radio.

Could it be something with an improperly coded key? Vehicle immobilizer? Any ideas before I take it in?

welcome to the forum. turn key engine no turn, battery weak, or terminals dirty and need cleaning. if key turn and engine turns but no start, possible coil/ignitor, and or as you say could be immobilizer. But most immobilizer will not allow the engine to turn at all, turn key and nothing happens. Is the battery in the emmobilizer good.

Thanks for the info. I'll try and clarify a bit more - when I say it won't start, I mean I turn the key and nothing happens at all. Not a sound.

After I open and close the door, the car starts just fine, but I have to recode the radio.

I've had the car for about 3 weeks now, and this has happened 4 times. Battery was installed 11/08 and the terminals look very clean.

beginning to sound like a loose connection possible at the firewall. When slamming the door the connection is good. if you have to reset the radio code, you are loosing power from the battery to the system. ( changing the battery or disconnecting the battery will cause you to reset the radio code.) look for a loose connection with power or ground.
