Default 2008 CR-V chatter

At speeds of 35-40mph on smooth flat road and no load to the wheels I get a chatter from the front(?)
that goes away as soon as I accelerate or slow down, that is, apply load. Car has only 75K.
Anyone have any ideas?

You would need to do a through visual inspection of the front end.
Possible causes range from motor mounts to bolts that never bottomed out which leaves room for chatter.

I know that I was not much help.
But, there is little I can see from behind keyboard.
Wish you luck.

As AC mech52 said, it can be the CV joints.
But, hard to tell sitting in the driver's seat where the noise is coming from

Thanks again. Not being a mechanic, where are they located? Big job? Small job?

Seeing as you're not tech-inclined, you'll need a reputable shop. I suggest you find one and have them take a look.
