Default 2016 CRV air conditioning blowing hot air...nail?

My CRV started blowing warm air on warm days, though it would still blow cool air in early mornings. I took it to the dealer and they said it has a hole in the air compressor from a nail. I bought the extended warranty but it won’t cover a nail. The car has just 49000 miles.

Since I hadn’t been around any construction this winter, that seemed weird so I googled and discovered there was a class action law suit for CRV air conditioning problems a few years back and Honda paid owners for repairs. It mentioned the location of condenser made it susceptible to road debris and that sometimes the condensers failed and scattered debris.

Reported failures were often in the 40000-50000 mi range it seemed.

Did Honda fix that issue?

welcome to the forum. Honda currently has 2 recalls for the 2016 crv, the air bag, and engine replacement with wrong pistons. Air condition condensers are right up front behind the grill. 1st thing that gets hit by anything the truck or car in front of you may kick out of its' rear tires. this is a common occurance. a few people put a screen behind their grill to help prevent foreign object damage to the condenser. sorry to hear about your condenser getting hit by a nail. that is rare.

Default Thanks.

I’m surprised Honda didn’t put a screen there after they paid that class action suit about it. It’s my first Honda, having been a pretty devoted Toyota gal. The CRV seat was just more comfortable than in the new Toyota, but I’m sure regretting it now. I’ve had 3 Toyota’s and none had a problem under 100,000.

We’re talking a pricey repair here.

Where would I get a screen and have it installed?

I would suggest calling a window screen shop. I picked up screen material from the shop and installed it my self. some are put on the front of the grill, soe are put in back of the grill. also auto parts house may have them napa, autozone, pepboys, need to call to find out if they carry them.
