Default 2017 CR-V Transmission Fluid Service Interval

Hi all,

I recently got my oil changed at 35,000 miles and was told the transmission fluid needs to be changed (have the EX-L, so 1.5liter turbo and CVT). After searching around, I find so many conflicting intervals...30k, 60k, and 90k. I don't do any mountainous driving and certainly no trailering or hauling heavy things around. The manual doesn't say anything and by the time they gave me the car back, maintance minder was reset, so can't even tell if the car legitimately asked for it or just a typical dealer screwjob. Is there an actual interval for a 2017 Honda CR-V with the CVT that I can confirm somewhere? Thank you in advance!

I don't think the dealer was lying. 4 years old and 35k? I would change it. It's not really an expensive job.

welcome to the forum. your owners manual states each 45k miles. after having several transmissions overhauled on various cars i owned, a few transmission shops advised me if all automatic transmission owners changed their fluids once a year, many transmission shop will close up due to not enough damaged transmission. my 07 Fit has 295k miles, i change the fluid once a year after the 100k mile warranty was up. i do most of my own easy work, but found a good transmission shop that uses Honda Transmission Fluid only. once a year the fluid is changed even if i drove a few hundred miles, cheaper than a $2500 transmission overhaul. http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/p...ATLA1717OM.PDF

On my 2007 CRV, I just do 4 quarts.
I drain the transmission and re-fill the four quarts.
I know there are much more and would require changing the fluid a few times.
But, I do this about every 30k miles. About once every two years.

changing it early is better then late... i just bought a 2021 CR-V EX for my wife and i will be doing it every 30K.. quart of new CVT oil is cheaper then the CVT going bad..
i think i'll be changing the oil sooner even after seeing earlier models with 1.5L getting the gas leak down...

That's not an issue anymore with the 2021.

The 1.5 Turbo was gas direct injection and on top of that was turbo charging.
That puts too much pressure on the cylinder and rings
So, the gas got past the rings and diluted the oil
