Default Am I being stupid?

I'm a little dismayed by the lack of pep off the line in my 2014 CR-V, so lately, when I want a little zip when the light changes, I've taken to dropping the shifter into 1, revving it to 4-5k, then shifting to 2, then into D.

I know it's not a sports car, but I like going fast sometimes, and this helps my ego.

Am I doing long-term damage (hell, even short-term) to the car by doing this? What's the general consensus out there?

Thanks.

Oh, and while I'm asking questions, why is my hood a slightly darker color than the rest of the car?

And why is the windshield getting pitted so easily?

the cr-v is not a hot rod, so its gonna be a slow suv but good on rough roads hills and snow/mud/slush/sand. going through the gears does not hurt the trans. don't rev and dump it into gear, that will hurt the trans
if you purchased the car used the hood could have been repainted. if you bought it from new i don't know.
windshield gets pitted from rocks, winds blowing sand, following too close to vehicles on the freeway. i've had 2 windshields on my 07 Fit from pitting. but i drive the freeways a lot with lots of winds and sand picked up to sandblast cars.
