I wasn't real impressed with the sound of my 2014's CD player, so I went to an installation place and found a Kenwood powered subwoofer that fits under the driver's seat. It covers all the basses (ha!), and the sound is vastly improved because the amp in the head unit isn't using power to play the bass.

If you want better sound, it's well worth it!

I found another manufacturer in Tread magazine called Boss Audio, and they have a similar unit to the Kenwood, but it's less than half as much.
