Default Exhaust Temperature Sensor

Hi All,
I recently bought a 2015 Honda CRV diesel automatic - beautiful car i must say. I had it booked in for a service and on my way to the garage the engine light came on - the mechanic checked it out and without telling me he took it to an auto electrician whereas he diagnosed it as the exhaust temperature sensor ( i had no idea that it was at an auto electrician nor that the fault was the exhaust temperature sensor ) - the auto elec took the initiative to reprogram the car and delete the exhaust temperature sensor from the computer ( if this makes sense).

After i went to pick up the car and i was told of this - i was furious and i told the mechanic that i will not pay the 200 euros that the auto elec wants to remove the exhaust temp sensor from the car program.

I called Honda in Cyprus and the part costs 416 euros original.

My question is - by removing this sensor from the program does it affect the car at all? the mechanic says that its a usual process. If i get an after market sensor does anyone recommend this? or should i get the original from Honda?

I told the mechanic im not paying the 200 euros and at the cars next service i want them to reprogram the car and change the sensor.

I hope someone can help.

Andrew
