I'll try to keep this as brief as possible, but....

I've been back and forth with the mechanic a few times now over an issue with the P0339 Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption code. Here's the sequence of events and what we tried so far. Looking for any advice or suggestions on what else to look for to resolve this...

This is a 2011 CR-V with just over 165,000km on it.

- Timing chain was stretched, and was replaced. First clue to this was frequently (almost every start) throwing the P0339 code (as a permanent fault though, not intermittent), along with refusing to catch when starting. It would turn over, but never ignite. Usually I could turn it off, remove the key for 30 seconds or so, then try again and it would start, though performance was awful (due to the chain). When replacing the chain, I asked the mechanic to replace the sensor as well. He did with a new aftermarket one.

- Seemed fine when leaving the shop, but around the 50km mark, the code started showing up again, along with "P0420 - Catalytic converter system, bank 1 - efficiency below threshold". First thing that comes up when you search that code is.,.. the Crankshaft Position Sensor again. The P0339 code started showing up again as well, but this time now showing the "Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption" detail. The rest of the car performance is fine: fuel economy, power, etc, all working normally now, BUT the starting issue was cropping up pretty much daily for the 900km I drove it before bringing it back to the shop.

- Mechanic then replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor with another new one (different aftermarket brand). This is where we sit now, and while it's not throwing those codes as often (every 2-3 days now instead of daily or more), it is still throwing them, and when it does, it'll be immediately following a failure to catch on starting like before. At this stage, I can get past it usually by shutting off for a few seconds and then firing it up again - has been catching every time when I do that with this sensor.

Problem is, I can't figure out if this is just bad luck with another bad sensor, or if there's something wrong with the wiring to it maybe, or what. Electrical system seems fine, alternator is charging well, starter is only a couple years old and has never given any trouble (it cranks over nicely, just the computer will occasionally just refuse to ignite the engine periodically). I need to bring it back to the mechanic again but before I do that, I wanted to try and get some additional ideas for him to investigate, so he doesn't try to snow me and start pointing at other things in order to upcharge... I won't be using him again, but as this is now covered by his warranty, I need to have him resolve it.
