Default Element crank position sensor problems.

Hello everyone. 03 element. 214,000 miles runs great. Well it did anyway. Was bucking intermittently when driving then quit wouldn’t start back up. Check engine light came on. No rpm signal. Changed crank position sensor with parts store brand. Wouldn’t rev past 3000 rpm check engine light back on for same issue. Changed to Honda oem. No check engine light. But will quit the crank no start. Changed cps again to Napa brand. Starts runs now. But back to bucking intermittently while driving. Quits starts right back up. no check engine light. I’m at whits end

MAF causes bucking.

Yeah, what he said. MAF can cause bucking. Try disconnecting the MAF sensor. If it runs better then replace or clean MAF sensor.

The maf sensor would not cause the vehicle to quit and then not restart.

I was able to trace the issue down. The problem was a bad ground for the crank shaft sensor circuit. When the car got warmed up the connection would build resistance and the circuit would fail.

That is good troubleshooting.
