Default Dangerous auto rear seat fold down

Description: I recently purchased a 2020 passport. The passport has the remote buttons in cargo to automatically unfold the rear seats. I was amazed at how hard and fast the seats fold down. I have 2 small 5 lb dogs that we put in the back seat for safety. I became very worried that if someone hit the remote button it would severely injure or kill my dogs. So worried in fact I unplugged the electrical connections to each rear seat to disable the auto rear fold down.
I think Honda needs to rethink this feature and design it do the seat slowly retracts. This may even be considered as a recall. A small child or baby could also be injured.

Guess the thinking behind the design was that one would know if there was a pet or child in the back seat space
And the decision to push the release button would be made by responsible adults aware of this.
If you feel this is a danger then you can disable it (as you have already done)
But, to think of it as a recall is akin to saying the car can backup and hit a pet or child so reverse should be disabled.

To clarify my concern is if the button in cargo is hit inadvertently. I agree only a dumbass as you have inferred me to be, would hit the fold down button with a child or pet on the seat. I submit tho that accidents can happen.
at the least a button cover would have been a wiser design choice
let’s see what happens when it does happen.
we make great strides to design safe cars with airbags radar brakes sensors etc. this improvement is a no brainer.
my motivation in posting this is to make others aware of the potential. It’s your privilege to consider my concern stupid. You are obviously not familiar with Mistake Proofing concept or been responsible for an OSHA regulated industry.

Never said anything derogative about you. Only that your concern maybe over amplified.
Did not say, it wasn't dangerous if someone hit the button while a pet or child was in the space.
You take this too personally.

Of course accidents do happen. But, they happen less to those who remain aware of such dangers as you are.
I hope they do make a cover for those buttons. Not that they should remove the function completely.
Maybe you should call Honda and explain your concerns and position.

I already have a case number filed with Honda.
They were the first ones contacted
I brought it up here to warn others since I felt it was the responsible thing to do.
The lecture you gave about responsible adults is not constructive and a simple thanks for the heads up would have been a more appropriate response.
your opinion Good luck with that.

There was no lecture.
And, I believe that any responsible adult would have been aware not to use those buttons while a pet or child was in that space
Just like not going in reverse without knowing there are no pets or children in the way.
A little common sense goes a long way to having a nice day.

And, yes, accidents do happen.
You did what you believe to be the responsible thing to do.
You want thanks for that??
Okay, thank you for being a responsible adult.
