Unhappy 2001 civic lx ECU/Link Erros problem.

my 2001 civic has the check engine light on. I tried using a scanner to check the codes to see what the problem was. Every scanner i used said link error. My mechanic said it could be the ECU that went bad. I bought a new ECU and made sure the numbers matched the old one and when I tried to get it programmed it didn't work. They said I might need to replace the antenna and ignition tumbler to match the new ECU? Is this true? Did I even have to replace the ECU in the first place? I am really lost and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

if you get a new ecu u need the keys that go with it but your ecu might be ok it could be the wire harness. there could be a bad wire or connection between the hook up for the code reader and the ecu

if you get a new ecu you have to have your keys re-programed at a honda dealer or it won't start.
