2004 Honda Accord Gaa Cap Tether
I feel like a noob. i need to replace the gas cap on my 2004 honda Accord Ex V6. The gas cap has aged, and it is not always sealing correctly. I have to check it every couple of days to see if it is still tight, ot the check engine light comes on.
What I need to know is how to remove the tether from the car. This tether connects to the car itself, next to the gas cap. It is not one of those attached to the fuel door. It appears to have a standard plastic interior plug attaching it to the car. but I cannot be certain. For the past 30 years I have been taking my cars to a shop for any work that it has needed, but it just seems silly to take it in for a gas cap replacement. With all of the electronics in these cars, I also do not know if that tether contains any electronics. I was tempted to just cut the darn thing off at the gas cap and zip tie the new tether to it, or just remove it completely. However if that tether has electonics then that isn;t a viable solution.
Any help is appreciated for this pseudo noob.
