86 accord idle problem and hot water pump

hey guys i just got an 86 accord about a month ago it was running fine and then about a week ago it started to sqeal and the alternator was hot and so was the water pump pulley so i replace the water pump and alternator along with the belt any tips or ideas. fyi it also started to smoke!(the belt or something)

Sounds like your alternator or battery is still bad. Make sure the alternator belt is tight, it should deflect with finger pressure around 1/4 inch at the longest length.

Have you used a voltmeter to test the battery? Better yet go to your local pepboys or auto zone or sears auto center and have them load test your battery and alternator. This is usually a free service. Your battery should be around 12.6V with the car off, and at least 13V with the car running.

Maybe it's just a simple new battery that you need.
