Default 98' Civic Motor Swap

Today my civic decided the bottom end wanted to give out, so I pulled the motor and went to my nearby warehouse to get a used one. I gave them the VIN and matched it up, however the new block has a VTEC solenoid, he said just leave it on the block and it will be ok. It just won't have a plug in on the harness, has anyone experienced this? Will it be fine?

welcome to the forum don't have the experience, but from a honda mech, he stated that going from non vtec to vtec will need the harness and ecu. from vtec to non vtec, just the engine.. try it and see if the warehouse is correct, you already have the engine.

Yea that's what I'm doing tomorrow. He told me to just leave the VTEC solenoid unplugged and it will be ok. I hope he's right
