99 Odyssey J series timing belt problem
Hi all-
First post, hoping I can get some advice. I am putting things together after a head gasket job on my van and have encountered a problem. I am trying to put the camshaft sprockets at TDC so I can install the timing belt. Unfortunately, there is a problem with the rear sprocket. There are 3 spots in the rotation of the cam 120 degrees apart where all the valves are closed and thus the camshaft will come to rest. Problem is that the timing marks don't line up in any of these 3 positions, they are at least 1/6 of a rotation off. This is the long line on the rear camshaft sprocket and the corresponding mark on the back timing belt cover. Any ideas?
