Default ABS Pad Replacement; Dangers?

Old dog...new trix! My newest Honda was a '97. Now I have a '98 with 49k orig mis.The brakes are squealing in the rear. This is a 4 Wheel DiscABS system. Are there any specific things I need to be careful of? Someone told me that I just can't push the piston in to make room for the new pads...something about damaging the ABS system...is this true? My '97 shop manual sayes nothing about this. I've done more standard disc and drum systems than I care to remember, but I'm cherry with ABS. Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance!

Default RE: ABS Pad Replacement; Dangers?

just do the change like you normally would but make sure not to touch the sensor that is near the edge of the rotor/caliper. That is what controls your ABS. I did the same thing and whacked the sensor with a wrench and ended up screwing it up. I went the old fashion way of fixing it though by just pulling the abs fuse. I don't like ABS anyway. For inspection you can just put you fuse back in and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and driving it into the shop.. Enjoy brakes are always fun!!!!!!
