Default CRV 2001 whinning noise

I purchased this 01CRV in aug 06,it has 68k on it ,it has a whinning, almost sirein like sound when it reachs 1500 to 2000+ rpms appox 40mph....Itll diminish after 55mph but is real noticeable around 25-40 mph .it seems the moreI push on the gas pedal at that lower speed the louder it gets,I took it back to the dealer 3 days after purchase and the Tech rode in theCRV and said he heard it but that it was just gear noise ,my grilfriend has a 97 CRV and it doesnt make any noise at all in anygear..the CRV is under warrenty as it is a dealercertified honda suv. Im taking it to another independent owned (non-dealer)Honda repair shop and see want they find.So my 2 questions are :has any one else had this problem? and If the independent mech finds it does havea noise (gearing)problem, is the dealershipsuppose to repair it, being that it is still under Hondawarrenty ??? Thanks for any input....Mario

Default RE: CRV 2001 whinning noise

OK got my answer on this issue ,,seems that honda had put out a service bulletin on this whinning noise for all CRVs 97-03 and the only fix is to replace the trans with a remanufactured tranny .I took it to the dealer todayright after the independent mech lookedat itand his findings (he found the bulletin)... The dealer repcalled me back and said they are ordering a remanu.tranny and it will be installed by friday under warrenty.
