Hi,
I took my CRV 2011 to the dealer and because the engine was runinng weird.
They found the spark plugs were very dirty and the Valve guide was bent.

Now I understand they could rebuild the head of the engine, but they tell me thay don't advice doing so as the bottom of the engine is very likely to fail as well in the near future,
So they recommend replacing the entire engine for 4000$+tx. with a 100 000km engine they found somewhere.

What do you think? Should I reaplce the entire engine or doing the head is enough?

Before making any decision, many questions need to be answered to prevent making a bad decision
What guarantee is there on their on the work done?
What guarantee is there on the next engine?
Who is backing up the guarantee?
How many miles on the present engine?
ETC.

Note: Dealers make money by up selling customer to buy more or have more work done

 

Yes, I understand your bottom note. That's why I'm looking for another point of view.
They guarantee the new engine 2 years. Not sure about the work ... I will ask.
I guess the dealer is backing up the garante... but I will make sure.

You might look into eBay for your type engine and see if you can find a good shop that does Honda work. You’ll be surprised what difference you can get the work done for. Check yelp or Angie’s list for Honda/Accura repair shops. Off eBay they give 90 day warranty on the engine.
