Default Engine cuts off while driving

Hello,

I have a 1995 Honda Accord (Non V-Tec) that occasionally shuts off while driving. When engine shuts off, I can put the car in neutral or park and restart -- No idiot lights come on and no codes are stored. Anyone, have a idea of what is going on? Its starting to fail more regurlarly and I am suspecting the fuel pump??

welcome to the forum. Check your distributor ignitor, make sure all the plugs are good and wires, for the fuel, check the fuel pressure. then the main relay.

Thanks acmech52,
Finally the car died where I could check out a few things. I have no spark so now I'm going to check out the ignitor and relay. I replaced the dist cap, wires and plugs, and adjusted valves last weekend. My repair manual details how to perform continuity check on the ignitor and coil -- so if my car will start this afternoon to where I can get it home, I have a starting point.
Thanks for youre advice!!

if and when you change your distributor cap, there should be a small spring that carries the spark from the ignitor to the distributor cap. if this is missing or deteriorated, this will cause the ignitor to work harder. when you view the ignitor (coil) and it has hot spots ( discolored) this normally indicates a ignitor( coil ) failure.

acmec52,

Thanks.....where is the spring in the coil pack assembly or inside the distributor?
I did not have one on my car unless you are talking about the spring loaded button that contacts the rotor....

Thanks again for you're help and advice!
