Help! 2002 Honda Civic ex coupe
I recently bought a 2002 Honda Civic ex coupe for my daughter and a few thugs don’t work and I’m lost to understand why.
1 the power door locks only work when key is in the run position, will not work any other way.
2 door chime, key left in ignition, and headlight left on chime does not work
3 key prob does not work, have tried resetting, I wonder if this is associated with the door locks not working
i have checked all fuses under hood and all are good, no I haven’t checked under dash....any ideas please help....thanks in advance

Yeah, would check the rest of the fuses especially the ones under the dash.
Using a test light, turn key to on position and probe the two test points on the fuse.
If they both light up then fuse is usually good.
Oh, you may have a short that burnt the fuse out???

Thanks
Thanks..I will look into it. You would think that if The fuse was out the power locks would not work wether the car was in the on position or not.

Yeah, I had made the mistake of replacing my battery with the terminals reversed.
It blew out a lot. For example, the radio shorted and the power locks would not work.
Finally got the thing started and the power locks would work with the engine running.
It is just how the circuit is wired.
Replaced the radio and replaced the fuse and back to working again.
I suspect you have a short that frayed wire or something has blown the fuse.
If it is that simple .. good luck.

The power locks are powered by two ways
First is through a fuse from the battery to the lock switches
If it is blown then the power locks can get power through the ignition switch side
That is just the way the circuit is wired .. at least on my old car.
