How regular oil change for low-mileage use?
I have a 2006 Honda Jazz (=2007 Honda Fit) that I drive only once or twice a week and then only for short distances. I've put only 1500 miles on it since December 2022, when I last changed the oil. I use a high-grade synthetic oil.
My question: is it necessary to change the oil just because so many months (almost 10 months) have passed? I guess I'm wondering if the oil degrades over time even if the car isn't used much.
Note that I do drive the car regularly -- once or twice a week -- just never very far from home.
Oh, yeah -- if it matters, I do live in a pretty warm climate. Since June 2023 (it's now Oct 2023) we've had a number of days over 90 degrees F (over 32 degrees C), and a few days over 100 degrees F (38 degrees C).
Thank you very much.
