Default I haven't done any maintence besides oil changes in 20 months

I bought a Honda CRV 09 that was certified in April 2011. So that was about 20 months ago and 10,000 miles ago (45,000 total). Since then, I have only taken it in for oil changes when the indicator is on.

I plan to take the car for 4 new tires as soon as possible. I am also planning on getting a 4 wheel alignment. I always take my car to Honda for the oil changes. Do they check the hoses and belts when they change the oil?

I don't know anything about cars but I am learning now as I realize I have been being irresponsible about it.

I have a coupon for a free inspection:

A trained technician will provide a free, multi-point inspections looking at all your vehicle's major systems including the engine, brakes, drivetrain, suspension and steering components.

So I will have that done as well. What else do I need to have checked?

Thanks.

A good tech will check belts and hoses as well as other fluid levels, you could do a break inspection. But when they mount the new tires they should check that.

welcome to the forum. Yes Honda checks hoses and belts when oil is changed. They also charge a lot for tires. If you have an Americas Tires or Discount Tires, it costs less. Wheel alighnment is done normally 1x a year. you might shop around on costs. Airfilter change is about 12k-20k depending on the air quality. In Ca. 15k the filter is quite dirty. If you have an automatic, the fluid can be changed.

When Honda certified the vehicle in 2011, do they replace the fluids or do they just check that they did not need to be replaced at the time of inspection? Should I just pay attention/trust the maintenance minder when it comes to changing the fluids or should I be more proactive?

And by Air filter, you mean for the car's air condition filter?

Thanks again.

im going to say when it comes to car dealers there only as good as the mechanics they employ. i worked for the largest toyota dealer in connecticut for years. the one mechanic in charge of toyotas "certified" used car inspections would literally kick the the tires and do a 15 minute visual inspection no test drive or anything and this guy was there head mechanic. i got into a fight with this guy one day when a family came in and bought a used mini van and let them leave with four severely dry rotted tires. i made them come back and have the tires replaced. i was pisst to say the least.

Sadly,I have seen this type of thing happen more often now that dealers care more about the holy dollar than they do about customer care, you have to be your own safety net these days,or find a mechanic you can truly trust.
