welcome in,replace the ignition switch yourself, not that hard.
remove the two bolts holding the ignition switch in place. Some Honda vehicles have blank head bolts or round head bolts. In this case, you will need to cut a groove into the center of the bolt head with a dremel and use a flat tip screwdriver to remove the bolt. Or you can try removing the bolt using a center punch and a hammer to turn the screw bolt counterclockwise.
Pull the ignition switch out of the steering column and install the new switch. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the ignition switch retaining screws by hand.
Open the fuse panel cover and remove the electrical plug that is plugged into the fuse box which powers the ignition switch. The ignition switch power connector runs from the fuse panel back to the ignition switch. Verify that you have the correct plug and wire by tracing the wire back to the steering column.
Remove the two screws on the underside of the steering column that hold the cover panel in place. This panel covers the access to the ignition switch.remove the two bolts holding the ignition switch in place. Some Honda vehicles have blank head bolts or round head bolts. Honda Ignition Lock Problem
Here's the breakdown on your problem with your key not turning in the ignition lock. What I have found while fixing this type of problem.
(1) Your key wears down & allows the wafers(tumblers) to move past the stopping point & starts to bend on the inside of the lock. That's why somewhere in time it was hard for you to turn, eventually got worse & stopped working. Most people deal with this problem for days or weeks until they are stranded because they don't know the symptoms of this problem.
(2) The only solution is to have it replaced or rebuilt. But, the problem with replacing it with a new one is the keys to the ignition with be different from the rest of the vehicle & needs to be programmed. Also, if you ever loose your keys your local dealer will not be able to cut a key to the ignition because it was changed. So guess what another new lock at this point & with luck the local dealer will have one in stock & can squeeze you in. Hopefully you are not on vacation.
(3) A better solution would be to have someone rebuild the lock with new parts so you can maintain a 1 key system for the whole vehicle & cut new keys.
Note: If you are having a problem finding someone certified that you can trust in your area to help you with this problem. People mail me these ignition locks from all over the world to repair them all the time. Just give me a call: 678-699-2634 or website: KeySpecialist.com
