ls vtec nisfired then shut off.

Default ls vtec nisfired then shut off.

i just put a new cap n rotor on my b18c1 block b16 head. and that didnt help im pretty sure its notgettin spark. im ordering a distributor today. am i missing something? when it was running it would bog only sometimes for around 3 seconds then i could rip on it n it ran fine

welcome to the forum. If your timing belt did not break or slip, the coil/ignitor in the distributor may be bad. Also check to see if you have fuel pressure at your fuel rail.

well i replaced the distributor cap n rotor and it wont spark on the 3rd cylinder even with new plugs. i dont get it

if you are getting spark on 1,2 and 4 and not on 3, it could be your plug wire is shorted.

i put 3 sets of wires on it. i checked for compression just to be sure thats fine. should i take back my distributor n get a new one?

try taking an ohm meter and see if there is continuity from the inside of the distributor to the topside. Also did you try swapping the spark plug for check out purpose.

ya i put 2 new spark plugs just to make sure but ill have to find an ohm meter to try that

if your spark plug is known good, the wires known good, then there is no spark coming out of the distributor on #3 positon, the distributor is shorted or no power coming from the rotor or coil out to the distributor

i know right everything was new so i started over and got another new distributor and it worked so the first new one was bad. thanks alot for your help
