Problem with 2020 Honda Insight
I’ve had a 2020 Insight for about 5 months, has 1700 miles. This has happened 5 times while on the interstate (I rarely drive on the interstate, maybe 1-2 times a month.). When accelerating, such as on the entrance ramp to speed up and merge in, or accelerating to pass a car, at about 50-60 mph the transmission downshifts , feeling and sounding like it downshifted into 1st gear, jerking and suddenly slowing dramatically. It’s like you were going about 50 mph and threw it into 1st gear. I can see the left side of the dashboard light up in orange when this happens, but it doesn’t stay lit long enough for me to read. This is not the Collision Mitigation Braking System (I am not in any way close to the cars ahead) nor the lane assist). I have taken it to my dealer 3 times, and they are unable to find any problem. Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what is happening?
welcome to the forum. i had an older insight it did not do this to us. my suggestion being it is a new insight, record all the info possible , even a video if possible. time of day, temp, 1st run, 2nd run, cold hot date and time, location, fwy on ramp, stop light heavy accel, normal accel. you may have to leave the car for a few days for the dealer to do their testing, it could also be resetting of the computers. or cvt. also if there is another dealership service dept, you might try them. then make a report to American Honda Corp so you have a record of the problem. if no can fix, lemon law.
