Intermittent hesitation/loss of acceleration at steady speed
Our 1992 Honda Accord LX station wagon suffers from intermittent hesitation/loss of acceleration at steady speed, both street driving and highway driving. Outside temperature doesn't matter, winter or summer. Pushing down on the accelerator improves matters but only briefly.
Then, as quickly as the poor performance comes on, it goes away. Sometimes this improvement is accompanied by the Check Engine light coming on.
When the poor performance ends, it's as if someone threw a switch. It's that much of a change.
Several times the poor performance has occurred with a cold engine after 1-1/2 miles of street driving followed by 5 miles of highway speed. Then, after about another two miles tops of highway speed, the poor performance abruptly goes away. I've made note of it happening on this particular stretch of highway three times in the last month.
Anyone else had this problem and, hopefully, had it solved? Inexpensively??
Thanks,
Bill
