Default Tech warranty worth the money?

Hi all. I bought a new Honda Fit and also purchased a “tech” warranty which covers all the tech things in it-radio, rear camera side camera, moonroof ect. I guess it’s worth it if I needed it anytime in the next 7 years, but do you think these gadgets and cameras and touchscreens ect will likely go bad? Is it common? It was $550 for 7 years. I can cancel it and get my money back. That’s why I’m asking. Thanks

welcome to the forum unless you know how to fix any of the items you mentioned and know the cost of each item , it is worth the warranty, nothing may ever happen, like buying auto insurance, it there if anything were to happen, peace of mind. when we bought our new HR-V when it first came out, i purchased the 100k warranty and anything warranty i could get, the new cars now are not back yard mechanic friendly.

Yeah it’s peace of mind. I’ll have to think it over.

Spoiler

I wonder since you’ve bought these warranties you might know more about them. I got 7 years of the tech warranty for the cameras, touch screen ect. But, I saw the start date was when I bought it, but I’d think the regular 3 year warranty would cover anything in the first three years.

Do the warranty companies ever start them after the included warranty. I just feel like I’m paying for 7 years but only getting 4.

my warranty explained to me by the dealership financial office is as you stated 7 years after the first 3 years. or 100k which ever came first. only things that have normal ware is not covered. wiper blades, tires, brake linings and rotors or drums, clutch (if manual trans) filters. all else is covered. i also purchased 100k mi warranty after the original warranty expired. it covered the same except it was actually 10 or 100k mi from sign up date, unlike Honda's warranty. just need to read the warranty and see exactly what is covered. also if you do any of the work yourself, make sure you have receipts and write everything you do in a car journal. if you don't the warranty will not cover if they do not have the copy of maintenance accomplished like the factory schedule.

Thanks for all your input. I checked the contact. It’s 7 years or 75k miles. But it says in-service date was the day I purchased the car. I think the finance manager needs to change that date so it is starting 3 years from the purchase date? I am already covered for the first 3.

$550 for a 7-year warranty? That's dirt cheap. One one of the non-Honda cars I had, they wanted nearly $4k for a 7 year warranty.

well it’s only a “tech” warranty, it covers the radio, navigation, cameras and other things inside that are technology.

The funny thing is, I could buy a new radio, nav and camera for less than $500.

It's much easier installing that on old Honda's that had double-DIN radios. All the new cars don't allow for aftermarket radios making it a real pain to do any upgrades or repairs using aftermarket. I think Nissan still makes some of the newer cars with double-DIN if I'm not mistaken.
