Default Two issues

Greetings, I'm new to this forum and appreciate everyone's help. I just bought a 97 CRV automatic with 87k miles. The car looks and runs great. I have a couple of questions.
When the car shifts into overdrive it's a bit more rough than the smooth shifting into the other gears. It's not bad, just not smooth. Since I don't have the maintenance history on this car I don't even know if the transmission fluid has been changed. Do you think this would help or is there an adjustment that can be made?
Also, when driving over bumps there is a clunking sound from underneath the car. Sounds more like the suspension. What typically wears out that I should be looking for?

Thanks again

The clunking sound is normal, I have that in my honda. I had a 89 CRX and currently have a 02 honda civic and both of them do it.

Other issue, transmission, are you gunning the engine to make the engine rev high and its trying to catch up on your lead foot but otherwise, if you drive like a grandma, that is not normal. Its the gears that might be stripped or eroded by gears grinding. You might want to have a transmission place that deals with imports, dont go to a joe blow transmission place , they will take you blind! my 2 cents
