OIL FILTER
I havea 94 honda prelude that keeps blowing the seel on the oil filter i cant figure out why this would be happening. its something that i have never seen b4 with any vehicle that i have ever had. i was told that its possible that the oil pump has gone bad in it but im not so sure that is the case. if anyone has any ideas please let me know what the problem could possibly be. Thanks

RE: OIL FILTER
I am using 10 W30 and a penzoil filter i do believe the last 2 times that i have had the oil changed i took it to a shop and thats what they use. i personally have never used penzoil just never really agreed with them but i dont really think that it could be anything like that ii have heard from several people that there is a possibility that my oil pump has gone bad and creating back pressure in the filter blowing out the seal on it.

RE: OIL FILTER
Corbuston, sorry, I only know about oil pump produces oil pressure low to high, and if too high and cold weather, the seal or filter can burst or blow out the seal. I use a honda or fram, and have never had a seal blown out on me to date. I have seen a filter explode due to cold weather, cold start, 40 weight oil and high rev. too much pressure. Take the car back to the people that changed the filter and ask them why their filter is blowing seals. Might be a filter factory defect

RE: OIL FILTER
sounds like a blowby, change your pcv valve and you need to quit going to that place. Use manufacturer recommeded oil. They are right, I had experience in defective oil filter. There is a plastic flapper inside the oil filter that is not doing its job.
