Vtec
Howdy folks,
We have a 2003 CRV and it was having issues getting over 2800 rpm. Our mechanic replaced the VTEC, but it's still doing it.
Especially if it's not warm...after about 15 minutes of driving, we turn it off and sometimes will allow the engine to go over 2800...any advice here?
Thanks and hello from Western NC.

Not sure...but I think both...we bought the whole unit that bolts onto the back right of the motor. About 6 weeks after our alternator went out...we had been in touch with him about the same issue during that 6 weeks, where it was not allowing us over 2800...we brought it back to his shop...he checked it out said it was fine....and then as we were leaving the alternator went out. Currently, it is back at his shop...it was a bad part...just wondering if the bad part he put on in October (we kept calling) led to the alternator going out a few weeks after the repair.
He's going to replace the part, but wonder if the installation of the bad part in October led to the failing alternator.
