1996 Honda Accord Lx fuel leak issue
Hello! I have a 96 Accord Lx 4dr 5 speed 187000mi. I have noticed a strong smell of gas around the car and have noticed some gasoline dripping on my driveway. I've taken a look under the car and I saw that gas has accumulated under the car near the driver door. I took it to a local mechanic and he told me that it would be a mess to get in it and fix the problem. He said the work wasn't worth it because it would cost more than the car is worth. He also mentioned something about replacing the brake lines as a result of fixing the fuel lines. Is that true? Is there anyway I could fix this? I'm open to a some work.
well the brake lines usually run alongside the gas lines so if the gas line is rusted then the brake line is probably also shot. as far as it costing more then the cars worth i highly doubt that. yes you can fix it yourself fairly easy with the rite tools especially if you can cut out and replace the damaged section as opposed to the entire line.
or replace the entire line http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=ACCORD&catcgry2=1996&catcgry3=4DR+LX&catcgry4=KA5MT&catcgry5=FUEL+PIPE+(1)
