Default 1999 Accord Automatic Transmission

Hi All.
I am new here. I purchased a 1999 Accord 2 door 4 cyl auto trans for my son from the original owner. The reason he sold it was it had a code for "incorrect gear ratio" and was told by Honda it needed a replacement tranny at a whopping $3600.00. The car runs good and looks almost new on the inside as it was very well kept. I am looking for a tranny for it and have been told different things about the interchange years. The local salvage yard said it must come from a 1998 to 1999 car only. Another seller said 1998 to 2002. Yet another guy said 1997 to 2000. Who is right??? Please help.
Also does anyone have any experience with JDM parts? They are supposed to All have low miles because cars are taken off the road in Japan after so many miles. I see alot of these listed on ebay. Are they worth buying? Will they work properly in a US market vehicle?
Thanks for all of your help.
Paul

welcome to the forum. viewing the overhaul list compatability, I found the 4 cyl trans 1998 to 2000. If you decide to get the Japan used low milage trans, they are good and they will normally make sure it is compatable to your year accord. I have done this with 4 different vehicles and all worked good.
