1999 Accord Brake light on permanently - battery dying
Hi all:
this afternoon, my 1999 Honda Accord (bought used two weeks ago) refused to start. Suspected a dead battery. So jump started the car and left it idling for 30 minutes. That's when I found out why the battery had died. Turns out the eye level brake lamp (in the rear window) as well as the two brake lamps on either side are stuck at on. Now that the battery is charged, these three lamps remain on even when I switch off the car. this is what drained the battery. So I am going to have a dead battery again tomorrow morning. Any suggestions on fixing the problem would be much appreciated.

Hi all, i just found a youtube video identifying the problem and a solution. apparently it is just a small plastic grommet that broke off (I found pieces on the floor). Will get the part tomorrow and replace. meanwhile, have made a stop gap solution to keep the brake light switch depressed. Sorry to have taken up people's time. should have looked up youtube first.

No problem.
Always feel free to ask any question.
If we have an answer then we will say.
If not then we will shut up.
But, that was the first thing I was going to suggest.
That little plastic piece breaks off.
Thanks for coming back and updating us.
Much appreciated
