Default 2004 Accord. Possible transmission problem.

2004 honda accord ex stopped at red "light." Once light turned green I pressed gas car didn't "move." Shifted to park then back to drive car drove "fine."
It has happened a couple of times. Today I got in the car to go somewhere. Shifted to drive and car wouldn't move. Put it back in park, turned engine off, started car again, shifted to drive and car drove fine. Any ideas what is wrong?

I don't know much about Transmissions but I discussed this very problem with my Son in law who was a Mechanic in the Marines and is very in the know about trans. He says it could be something as simple as changing a solenoid,my 2000 Accord with 123k miles also shifts hard. I'm going to check into it.

The 03 04 05 accords have tranny issues. I learned that while shopping for my accord. Hopefully it's something minor.

I'm going to pull mine tomorrow. From what I have read it seems like solenoid might we'll be the issue. Fingers crossed!

Well after pulling the solenoid and cleaning, the car drove fine for a few days. Now it's doing it again. Alot of research and I'm pretty sure it is having a false neutral problem. Basically from what I can gather the transmission is finally giving out. Of course we are the 3rd owners and it has over 200k miles. Replace the tranny cost $3000-$4000. Waiting on a quote for rebuild. I don't even think the car is worth that much.

average trade in with good trans 3125.00 this is for coupe, ex no nav, no extras auto.100k (trans ovh cost is above car value) unless you plan to keep it for another 5+ years, then it may be worth keeping.

I just had the fluids drained and filled right before Christmas. Checked it today and it's not bright red. Kind of dull red. Any chance this could be a shift solenoid issue? I've been researching and there are 4 plus 2 clutch control solenoids. I cleaned the clutch solenoid on top of the transmission last week and the screen tubes were dirty.
