2004 Honda Accord Shift Lever D4 to D3

2004 Honda Accord Shift Lever D4 to D3
Does this year vintage of Accord allow the shifter to move to D3 without pushing the shift lever? I note I can move the shifter from reverse to D3, which is annoying because because you have to keep checking to make sure you are in D4.
