Default 90' accord starting and running problem.

I had a spankin' new distributor, wires, plugs and fuel filter put in about two months ago. on my way home from work one night i got off the highway and the car hesitated real bad on take off ( 5 spd. manual trans.) cleared out after third gear and started up a hill and did the same thing. next day car would'nt start. got it started and put in the garage. car idled for over an hou. once i touched the throttle when engine was at operating temp. it stumbled and died. would restart but sometimes took a lot of cranking. i can hear the fuel pump "whirring" . no codes in ecm. kept throttling and would hesitate real bad and every once in a while would pop or backfire out of the intake? any ideas of what the heck is going on would be appreciated. I have had this car for 7 years and has been an awesome car until now. 287,000 miles.....
