Default 96 accord ex f22b1

I created this account because I can not figure this out I have done a lot of work to my 96 accord ex. i have no idea what the problem is but heres everything that's happened here recently a week or 2 ago I changed my distributor with no problems at all started right up ran better then before I was happy. well I got gas the other day from trusted gas station no one else complained of bad gas either but anyways I was on e I put $20 into it gave me like 8 gallons. drove probably bout 5 miles noticed it started to sputter here and there got worried parked it for like 2 hours then had to head home so another 5 miles back home bout 3 miles into it she started backfiring slowing down and speeding up . went out the next morning to look at it tried to crank it it had a very rough idle sound like truck engine tbh. then today it wouldn't stay running unless I gave it gas and then it would die down in rpm sometimes jump back up but only when giving it gas just letting it sit there would cut off in few seconds I checked fuel it looked good idk what it could be its a f22b1 96 accord ex

welcome to the forum. if you got the distributor from a automotive shop, it may have decided to fail (normally the coil) if your car ran fairly good before you changed the distributor, and now it's running poorly, try changing out the distributor again. if it was a new one,( not rebuilt) then it may be something else. some overhaul shops do not replace a coil to keep costs down and later they fail due to heat, or breakdown.

iacv going bad will give you a below normal idle to a shut down( not rough idle) . once warm the idle will come back and drive normal. bad sparkplugs will give you a missfire and engine light. and run rough but will get up to speed slow, engine does not die just constant rough. so you still have the old distributor, if so put that back in to see how it runs.

I swapped back to the old distributor but no start just trying hard to start and didn't sound bad when it was trying to start either I already contacted my supplier they are fixing the problem by sending out another hopefully this is all it is

yea thats what i thought it couldve been to start with that i put it in wrong but was told there aint but one way to put mine in and it looked the same as before but quick question i noticed today when swapping them out my old distributor had a ring around the part that goes into engine but the one (new) didnt my wire harness matched up and everyone told me it was correct one for my car but seeing that makes me second guess
Ill post pic of new one i didnt get one of old one
